Whitney holds a doctorate in clinical psychology. She is registered with the California Board of Psychology as a Psychological Assistant under the supervision of Jesse Esqueda, Psy.D. Whitney moved to the Conejo Valley in 2006, she is originally from Montreal, Canada, and has been in California for the last 20 years. Shortly after moving here she started attending graduate school and obtained her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Santa Barbara. Dr. Dunbar sees therapy clients in her private practice in Thousand Oaks, and has been deeply involved with Hospice of the Conejo since 2008 and still facilitates weekly grief groups. Prior to joining the Engage team, Dr. Dunbar spent three years working with children and adults through Ventura County Behavioral Health, specializing in psychological assessment. She also spent a year in Orange County with the Neurobehavioral Testing Unit providing assessment services for adults with addiction and mental health challenges. Upon moving back to Ventura County, Dr. Dunbar worked in a multidisciplinary mental health office offering assessment and therapeutic services. Dr. Dunbar approaches her work from a feminist perspective, empowering all individuals to seek their own way in their journey through life. She practices a client centered, empathetic approach while holding clients in unconditional positive regard. In her free time, Dr. Dunbar enjoys practicing yoga, reading and watching movies.
